In addition to its function of praise and gratitude to the Creator for all the goodness with which it waters our daily life - for which its recitation is, in fact, a just acknowledgment to the Source of all benevolence - the Jews have taken refuge in the poetry of his words to unleash his anguish and vicissitudes, sheltering under the supplicating wings of his sacred text.

They constitute a frank dialogue between the mortal man and his Heavenly Father, honest expression of his feelings of the moment, be joyful jubilation, or requesting the Divine goodness, and even His magnanimous forgiveness in moments of tribulation, reciting in a collective or individual way.
